UPS donated 42 computers to the Salesian Mission "Bomboiza"

The univesity donated 42 computers to the “Bomboiza” Salesian Mission as part of a community engagement project. The project was carried out by the computer science undergraduate program and the “Recicla UPS” Salesian Group, they donated the computers. And the Free Software group provided technical support.
During one week, they provided maintenance to computers that were donated previously. They also equipped another classroom with 21 computers and a lab with 21 more. Network cabling was carried out to ensure internet coverage on the equipment, which enables access to digital resources.
The project will directly benefit 100 people and will indirectly benefit children and teens from 26 schools that are part of the Bomboiza district. The official donation was made to Father Marcelo Bravo, director, and Vicente Jimenez, in charge of the Salesian Mission.
UPS is committed to helping less privileged sectors, it is a fundamental part of its work and this will allow students to have access to new technologies. This will ensure that students from rural areas have the tools needed for their learning process.
For the second trimester there will be training sessions in order to strengthen the impact of this project.
