The university's intercultural and academic group "Yachaykuna" at UPS-Cuenca celebrated "Pawcar Raymi", one of the most important celebrations for "Cañaris" since their ancestors believed that this is the time of blossoming and the start of the winter season.

The celebration was a great opportunity for people to learn about the Cañaris indigenous culture, which is based on three contexts: mythical, social and symbolic. Indigenous students sang songs that are used to invoke their ancestor's spirits and danced to their traditional music.

Something that really captured people´s attention was the clothing and a big hat made of cattle leather. University officials, professors and students all had typical food like guinea pig and created a great intercultural situation.
