UPS welcomed new students
UPS welcomed new students
On March 10th, SENESCYT (National Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation) representatives, the coordinator of the UPS – SENESCYT agreement Hugo Montero and representatives from the university's student services department got together to welcome new students to UPS.
These students were awarded scholarships thanks to the agreement signed by UPS and SENESCYT in April 2014. The scholarships are meant to help students begin their university studies.
The meeting focused on three topics: the university's services, the scholarship awarded by the Ecuadorian Credit Institute (IECE) and the support students will have from the university bodies.
Father Marcelo Farfan, pastoral department director, welcomed the new students and told them that there will professors and students to tutor them in case they need it. Then Patricia Jara from the student services department explained several services which students have access to, for example accident insurance, medical and psychological attention, job placement, inter institutional agreements, and others.
SENESCYT representatives reminded students that they can also go for the IECE scholarship which awards students minimum wage to cover some of their expenses. You can learn more about this scholarship at SENESCYT.
