The 2022 Census was presented in the university's branch campus in Guayaquil

The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC for its acronym in Spanish) presented the 2022 Census that will be carried in Ecuador; the aim was to present some innovations, methodologies and the new online census.
The presentation was attended by Pablo Arosemena, Governor of Guayas; Roberto Castillo, executive director of INEC; Raul Alvarez, vice president of our branch campus in Guayaquil; representatives of academia, civil society and the media.
Raul Alvarez spoke about the importance of carrying out censuses and how the results provide updated demographic, economic and social information of Ecuador. “Our country’s reality demands new methodologies and indicators which will enable us to have data based on today’s reality and take new measures to improve people’s quality of life”, he stated.
The 2022 census will take six weeks, from November 7th to December 18th. Approximately 18000 people will work on the census, interviewers, supervisors and technical staff will all help collect the information nationwide. Roberto Castillo stressed the importance of the census and said it will be innovative, participatory and inclusive.
