Talk on forensic psychology

The psychology undergraduate program in our branch campus in Guayaquil organized an event to watch and then analyze a series on “Jeffry Dahmer”, a serial killer. Experts on forensic psychology talked to students about techniques for the collection, analysis and presentation of psychological evidence for judicial purposes, such as didactic strategies that promote people´s active, responsible and committed participation.
Veronica Yepez, student, stated that the event is an opportunity to participate and create synergy by analyzing real cases. “We learned about serial killers’ behavior patterns and how forensic psychology works together with the law”, she said.
Pedro Muñoz and Daniel Cabrera, forensic psychologists presented techniques for carrying out expert reports in legal, criminal and forensic psychology. The aim is that future professionals can determine the state of mental health, evaluate sequelae, assess credibility of testimonies.
Finally, Lisbeth Ipiales, professor in charge of the event, said "the aim was get students interested in the field of forensic psychology, the speakers presented the general aspects and the possible psychopathological profiles of Jeffry”, she said
