Teacher traning sessions before the start of the new academic period

Our branch campuses in Cuenca and Quito held teacher training sessions to discuss the role of the university today and its educational practices; the aim was to strengthen professors pedagogical and technological skills.

 

Father Juan Cárdenas, UPS president, spoke about the university’s 30th anniversary and how today it is positioned as one of the best universities in the country, eight in Ecuadorian universities 2024 QS World University Rankings. He spoke about the role of the University in the face of current cultural and anthropological changes, as well as the challenges of recently opened undergraduate programs, its flexibility to reach new audiences thanks to its study modes and the validity of our academic offer. “All these facts are signs of a university that seeks to respond to the contexts and demands of our students and knows how to do it”, he said.


 
UPS officials presented results, progress, achievements of the university from its different areas, as well as projections for the new academic period. There were conferences with international speakers: Margarita Villegas Ph.D. from Spain, presented the topic “Disruptive Education and Artificial Intelligence in Education” and Miguel Morales from Guatemala, the topic “Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of the Teaching and Learning process”.


 
During two days, professors participated in workshops, practices and group work on different topics such as Optimizing learning with Chat GPT, Innovating the design of learning activities with the help of Chat GPT, AI tools to create question bank rubrics or questionnaires, tools to detect Text generated by ChatGPT, Artificial Intelligence and the creation of learning objects. 

 

The university holds training sessions at the start of every academic period to encourage the improvement of professors teaching skills.
