Milk producers met with UPS professors to discuss problems in the milk sector

Professors and researchers from the university's Milk Quality laboratory met with representatives from 17 milk collection and cooling centers on March 3 to discuss the problems in the livestock industry regarding the milk from bovines in the sector.

About 1000 small and medium size producers of milk from Cayambe and Pedro Moncayo, in the province of Pichincha, and UPS researchers analyzed the problem from an economic, technical, political, social and commercial perspective.

They talked about technical and scientific alternatives in the short, mid and long term based on two aspects, quality and production costs. These two aspects must be improved in order to have high levels of competitiveness. 

the university's Milk Quality laboratory, the Dairy Research Group as well as other research groups will work together to find possible solutions to this problem. In the next few days they will hold workshops will milk producers.
