The third edition of the project titled "BiHeLa Cientifica" held a conference titled "Los e-Nanos nos invaden", where participants were able to discuss Nano science and Nano technology as well as scientific advances in this area developed in Ecuador.
The speakers were Santiago Ampudia and Javier Carvajal, researchers from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), who spoke about their experience in this field.
Sabrino Armenise, professor in the Biotechnology undergraduate program in UPS's branch campus in Quito, explained that Nano technology represents a potential solution for environmental pollution by removing smog or carbon dioxide through Nano particles used as catalyzers to remove pollutants from the atmosphere. They can also contribute to the treatment of residual water. Carvajal spoke about the advances of Nano science in Ecuador and around the world. He explained his research about Nano cellulose as a cure for herniated discs.
The "BiHela Científica" project, co-founded by Armenise, was created by professionals from several areas who suggest there be a monthly talk on several topics. The first edition was held in July and the talk was titled "El universo, del BIG BANG al BIG FREEZE".
