The II Symposium on Electricity and Sciences, SEC2016, came to an end

The Symposium, held in the University Theater, was attended by excellent and experienced speakers who presented different topics. In the event more than 300 people including students, teachers and the general public related to electrical engineering, took advantage of this privileged academic space to update their professional knowledge.

The symposium presented keynote speeches on the following topics:

  • Impact on the electric grid of new services, such as generation and distributed storage, electric mobility and induction heating, this talk was given by Cuban professor Miguel Castro Fernandez from Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echeverría de Cuba.
  •  Industrial Connectivity focused on the Internet of Things, by Santiago Orellana fromNational Instruments.
  • Intelligent Networks in Ecuador, presented by Patricio Heaviness from the SIGDE MEER project.
  • Advanced models for the use of planning for the expansion of intelligent systems for power transmission, presented by Santiago Torres, professor at University de Cuenca.

Andrea Egas, Undersecretary of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SEREE-MERR), ended the keynote speeches by analyzing the theme "Merr's Vision and strategy in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The symposium was complemented by the presentation of several scientific papers written by students from different universities and individuals from institutions concerned by the electricity sector.

At the end participants were awarded certificates. Electrical Engineering professors, who were in charge of organizing the event, were pleased with the number of people who attended the Congress and the support from the university officials.
