1st Competition on Biomedical Devices
1st Competition on Biomedical Devices
Danilo Molina and Wilson Saula, students majoring in electronics engineering in our branch campus in Cuenca, participated in the 1st Competition on Biomedical Devices and came in 2nd place in the category: "clinical engineering and bio computing" by presenting their project titled: "Estimulador Eléctrico para aplicaciones de estimulación nerviosa transcutánea y estimulación muscular".
The competition was organized by the biomedical engineering club and IEEE - EMBS from Universidad Yachay Tech. There were teams from Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador.
The project is part of the research titled "Plataforma de Adquisición Multicanal de Señales Electrofisiológicos y Estimulación Multimodal" carried out by the Biomedical engineering research group at UPS and the Laboratorio de Procesamiento de Señales e Imágenes Médicas (LAPIS) from Universidad Federal de Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
One of the objectives of the project is to generate technology for the biomedical area that can then become electro medical equipment. The project is being coordinated by Pablo Cevallos, from UPS, and Carlos Julio Tierra Criollo, from UFRJ.
