Mechatronics students from our branch campus in Guayaquil build mechatronic dolls with lighting and mechanical movements as part of a project carried out by students and professors; the activities were coordinated by professor Andres Ortega.

Students build dolls to represent characters like doctor octopus, spiderman, ironman, bender and others using recycled material. An electronic board was placed in the dolls so they could move, light up and even talk. The project began to be developed during the subject of digital electronics, which is connected to other subjects in students' sixth semester.

Ariana Garcia, mechatronics student, said "due to this month's celebrations we decided to use our knowledge and create dolls based on things we see every day". Her group build a doll which they titled "Vison", it has lighting in the front and back, it can move its head and arms with the use of a joystick.

Ortega said "it is the first time this project is held in this branch campus, the idea was that students implement electronics into a basic dolls. They were motivated by the experience.

Carlos Macias, assistant of the event, said "I am surprised by students' creativity, they managed to create dolls that move and light up; I congratulate students and professors on their work".

The event took place in building C and was attended by about 200 people, students, professors and the overall community.
