The anthropology undergraduate program organized a talk titled: "Anthropological views on the current crisis". Professor Freddy Simbaña was the first to present the topic "Covid 19, an urban disease".

The pandemic, just like globalization, has spread very quickly; it has attacked more urban sectors around the world. In Latin America, 84% of the population lives in urban area. This region is known for inequality, there is 30% of poverty, 11% of indigence and 53% of informal jobs, and today they have been very affected.

"The pandemic has made many sectors vulnerable; public policies are universal and do not respond to the needs of society who is really in crisis", said Simbaña.

There was also a debate on the strategies suggested by elites which follow neoliberal course, such as the case of resistance in community organization that emphasizes indigenous health systems and the community commercialization that is supplying cities with diverse strategies of intercultural dialogue.

Rubén Bravo, director of the anthropology undergraduate program, pointed out that there is a tendency for historical inequalities to return in new forms, something that cannot be accepted, like the restrictions on human rights, health and education.
