In the university board meeting, held virtually, Juan Pablo Salgado was named the university's Head of Research for the 2020 – 2025 period. 

The designation was announced by Father Fransisco Sanchez, Inspector of Salesians in Ecuador, after having the opinions of the members of the university community and consulting with members of the board. 

Juan Pablo Salgado will take office as the head of research for the second time; it is worth noting that the university has created a research ecosystem, it has well established research groups and an innovation and entrepreneurship program in StartUPS.

"It is essential to work for a university community that is open to reality and creates a culture that promotes and encourages people's skills", said Salgado.

Some of the future challenges and opportunities in this new period are: strengthen applied research and the transfer of knowledge, extend the collaboration network for innovation and entrepreneurship at the international level; and highlight Salesian priority options in research projects.
