Students and professors in our branch campus in Quito presented the results of 26 research projects during the open house held in Cayambe on May 12th. The projects are on life sciences, social development, infrastructure, social management and technical support.

Residents of the area visited the stands to learn about different projects, for example the agro ecological project that will facilitate the production, collection and selling of organic products. There are other projects, such as the design of a waste water treatment plant, the design of a hydraulic turbine for a mini hydroelectric plant, sustainable management of water, territorial planning and reforestation.

The projects presented in the open house are the result of joint work of students from mechanical engineering, civill engineering, environmental engineering, electronics and automation, computing, business, management and leadership, accounting, management for local sustainable development, biotechnology and anthropology.

The open house was part of the project that will build an irrigation canal that will provide irrigation water to 100,000 people in 17,000 hectares. "The projects will improve people's quality of life and help the environment. These activities strengthen students' preparation", said Carlos Padilla.
