Leadership and management of Salesian identity

The university began the second module of the course "Leadership and management of Catholic and Salesian identity of IUS" which is aimed at the directors of Salesian Institutions of Higher Education". The course was attended by 28 academic representatives from America, Europe and Africa and will end on September 27th. 

The aim of the course is to guarantee that in every institution there is a significant presence of Salesian nature. Father Marcelo Farfan, general coordinator of IUS, said that the second module is fundamental in order to share key elements regarding how to manage a higher education salesian institutions as well as its identity. 

"For this, there will be three elements: the meaning of Christian inspiration, identity and mission in the current context, the history of higher education institutions and identity importance", said Father Marcelo Farfan. 

The first session was led by Father Fernando Montes, who spoke about the "Identity and mission of the catholic university". He spoke about how people should understand the university, his personal experience leading a university and as a researcher, anthropology to better understand man and about a globalized culture. He said that universities should be more human and more catholic, help the poor and be humble. 

Some of the topics of the course are "Salesian Leadership", "History of IUS", "Pastoral activities in Salesian universities", "The educational model", "Working for the most disadvantaged", "The preventive system in salesian higher education".
