A new physics laboratory is being implemented for the civil engineering undergraduate program in the university's branch campus in Guayaquil. The laboratory will be used for experiments in mechanics in the subject of statics, which will strengthen students' learning.

The laboratory has equipment with the latest technology which will enable students to learn physical phenomena and acquire basic knowledge. Pedro Peña, director of the civil engineering undergraduate program, said "the laboratory is an opportunity for students to improve their learning"

It has modern and sophisticated sampling equipment to determine the position of surfaces and production bases through specialized tools. The leveling equipment will be used to gather most information on areas and volumes of land or routes using profiles and plans.

With the station equipment, students will use laser technology to measure horizontal angles of the directions in the boundaries of a territory. In addition, they will be able to locate the coordinated position of some point of the land. "This equipment will support the practices of the students in Topography," said Peña.

We also have a Mavic 2PRO drone, with an omni-directional vision system and an integrated LCD screen with infrared systems. This allows us to carry out topographic practices of ground recognition at an aerial level, that is, supervise works from above.

It is worth mentioning that in Civil Engineering, topography is one of the great supports for the development of works that benefit society. All this allows students to have scenarios that they will face in their working life.
