UPS students win first places in the "Robotic People" competition

Four mechatronic engineering students from our branch campus in Cuenca won the first, second and third place in the international "Robotic People" competition which has been held for nine consecutive years.

Due to the current health conditions worldwide, this edition was done online with the participation of nine countries. Participants had to overcome challenges from home to demonstrate the robot's skills. There were 23 categories in all.

Josue Eduardo Abad Gavilanez won first place with his robot Cheems, Cristian Eduardo Mendez Crespo and Paola Alexandra Idrovo Guapisaca won second place with their robot Mauma, and Maria Jose Dominguez Ochoa won third place with his robot Onami; all in the Minisumo RC category. 

They also won second and third place in pairs in the category "Fútbol RC Pro, and second place in the category "Minisumo RC PRO. Our students participated under the team name: Robotics – Automation Mechatronics Solutions. 

The director of the mechatronics undergraduate program, Edy Ayala, was pleased with students' achievement and said it was due to their team work and motivation.

Finally, Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, congratulated the students.
