The book: "Los Morlacos y las Redes Sociales"

Students majoring in communication in our branch campus in Cuenca presented the book titled: "Los morlacos y las redes sociales", which compiles articles written by first year communication students. Isidro Marin, researcher at Universidad Tecnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) stated that he was surprised to read about social networks in Cuenca and to learn about people's preferences when using social networks.

The book tells us how Cuenca was before the arrival of social networks; its customs and activities young people would do. It describes the changes regarding customs and habits that took place with the arrival of the internet and analyzes the future regarding the use of new technology.

UPS president Juan Cardenas, congratulated students and professors on the book and said that "social networks are the new campuses and the church has to find a way of evangelizing the digital continent".

Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, also congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue conducting research. One of the main sources to carry out this research was city hall; Jorge Espinoza, on behalf of the Mayor of Cuenca, said the book demonstrates how people in Cuenca (also called morlacos) are currently using social networks and added that the analysis is necessary and completely valid.

Juan Parra and Diego Vintimilla, students, were very pleased to present the book which demonstrates their work and effort.

Andrea De Santis, director of the communication undergraduate program, congratulated the students and the professors who guide them. He also thanked university officials for their support and stressed that "it is an honor to have students interested in conducting research and a strong drive"
