Researchers in Guayaquil attended a workshop on scientific writing

The university's research department in Guayaquil and the Secretary of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT) held the workshop titled "Writing scientific articles" which was aimed at all professors so that they can improve their presentation of scientific articles for national and international journals.

The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness and promote the validation of research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as help improve writing scientific articles by learning some of the strategies that favoring the publication of research results. "The workshop was interdisciplinary, open to all scientific fields and majors of the institution", said Raquel Ayala, Ph.D. coordinator of Research in Guayaquil.

The workshop was led by Sascha C.C. Steiner, SENESCYT Prometeo, Researcher at the National Center for Aquaculture and Marine Research (CENAIM) of the Escuela Superior Politecnica del Litoral (ESPOL). "The training will enable Salesians researchers to know the correct way to use scientific writing and succeed with it," he said.

The topics were:

• The purpose of scientific publications, in its early days and today: Barriers and cultural facilitators, linguistic, financial

• Editorial and review processes that must be anticipated in the preparation and submission of a manuscript to a journal 

• Writing scientific articles: structural formats, typographical, grammatical, scientific standards, content development textual and graphic

• Strategies to improve scientific papers

• The revision of an "accepted" article: How to precisely address the observations and corrections from reviewers?

• Management of scientific information: How to increase dissemination and application?
