Ruth Karina Tinizaray, graduate of the psychology undergraduate program, won the "Write a letter to Don Bosco" competition which was organized by the psychology program in the university's branch campus in Quito. In her letter, Karina managed to move professors who were part of the jury by writing how happy she was by helping others.

Professor Paz Guarderas said that this competition showed how much knowledge people have about the life of Don Bosco, how much they love his work and how he has influenced the life of students. "We think Don Bosco would have liked that young people write him a letter. Therefore, we organized this competition along with Juan Andres Granda, student representative", she said.

The letter begins like this:

Dear Father Bosco: With a heart full of joy I begin this letter wishing and imagining that you will receive it with the same pleasure and affection with which you received the letters that your dear young people sent you and which you responded with fatherly affection. I want to imagine that you have gone on one of your trips in search of fortune to cover the needs of your beloved children of the Oratory and that is why you are not aware of all the things that have happened since you left for the celestial homeland. 130 years ago
