The university's branch campus in Quito was host to several officials from Salesian higher education institutions and universities (IUS) from America. They met from August 27th to 31st to develop quality indicators that will ensure better education.

The meeting was presided by Mario Olmos, president of Universidad Don Bosco in El Salvador and person in charge of the IUS from America. The participants were Amelia Sibrián from Universidad Don Bosco, Eliana Maldonado and Ana Cristina Huanca, from Universidad Salesiana in Bolivia; Ximena Arévalo from UNISAL México, Gillianno José Mazzetto from Universidad Católica Don Bosco de Campo Grande, Brazil; María Eugenia Cárcamo from Universidad Silva Henríquez de Chile, Aron Rodas from Universidad Mesoamericana from Guatemala and Xavier Merchán from Universidad Politecnica Salesiana Ecuador.

"We are working on creating indicators that give our educational model greater value, something that differentiates us and guarantees that we provide quality education", said Olmos. He also said that in salesian universities students are educated to be responsible citizens, according to Don Bosco's motto "good Christians and honest citizens", in social, political, cultural, educational and religious contexts.

However, Olmos highlighted that the most important thing of teaching is to connect with the person. "The basic thing is still human, connect with students' lives, it could be that my subject is the most important of their program, but if we do not establish links, we will not reach them." We are more than teachers, we are responsible educators of what we are teaching them, which is why Don Bosco says that education is a matter of heart, we rediscover this pedagogical-educational relationship.
