The university's Information and Communication Technologies for Disabilities Research Group (TICAD for its acronym in Spanish), Colegio de Médicos del Guayas and the Ecuadorian Medical Federation held a talk on Alzheimer's disease aimed at Neurological Disease Aid Groups. The talk provided attendees new care techniques for patients.

Dr. Roddy Tumbaco, neurologist, spoke to students and gave them advice on how to improve their relationship with people who suffer from Alzheimer's.

The topics were:

- Detection, prevention and treatment of Alzheimers

- Stages of the disease

- What every caregiver should know

- Tests to detect Alzheimers

- Diet

For Alice Naranjo, coordinator of the TICAD Group, this type of activity allows the public to become aware of the importance of caring for people with Alzheimer's disease. "We must contribute significantly to improve the quality of life of older adults," she said.

During the event they also talked about the future technological projects between UPS and medical institutions. "In the academy you can create great things that transcend time, and this university has many things to do," said Tumbaco.
