UPS was acknowledged as a center with good practices for inclusion

Thanks to all the work carried out by the university's Inclusion Support Center (CAI for its acronym in Spanish Centro de Apoyo a la Inclusión (CAI)), the Information and Communication Technologies for Disabilities Research Group (TICAD for its acronym in Spanish Comunicación Asociadas a Discapacidad (TICAD)) and the Free Software Academic Group (GASOL for its acronym in Spanish Grupo Académico de Software Libre (GASOL)) in Guayaquil, UPS has been accredited as a Center of Good Practices for Inclusion of people with visual impairment.

The acknowledgment is the result of hard work carried out by university officials, professors and students of the computing engineering school in the project aimed at supporting the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor market. "This allows us to continuously support people with disabilities within and out of UPS", said Alice Naranjo. 

AGORA-FENE announced that it is working on other projects where students can get involved and that will continue placing UPS as a Center of Good Practices for Inclusion for people with visual impairment. "We thank you for supporting this project that enables the development of activities for a life without mendicancy and exclusion" they said. 

The courses that have been taught are: Introduction to NVDA, NVDA with Windows 8, Introduction to Computing, 3D printing for the creation of prototypes for people with disabilities, how to read braille, mobile apps, workshops to create awareness, forum, Congress of free software, ICTs for society, and others. "As officials, we are committed to supporting these activities", said Andres Bayolo. 

From the 14th to the 16th of June, there will be a photography exhibition which has been called "Inclusion everywhere". The aim is to create awareness among all UPS staff and the overall public about disabilities, inclusive education, ICTs for inclusion and social inclusion. 

This event showing 200 photographs will take place in building "F" from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm – 5pm. The event is supported by the UNESCO chairs program for inclusion (Proyecto Cátedra UNESCO). Canadian volunteers from Montreal university  will also take part in this event.
