The Business Administration undergraduate program in the university's branch campus in Cuenca inaugurated its Business Consulting Services Program in its "Maria Auxiliadora" campus. The program will provide several business services to entrepreneurs and businesspeople from the city of Cuenca who need advice for their businesses. Therefore, the Ministry of Industries and Productivity (MIPRO for its acronym in Spanish), Corporación Financiera Nacional, BanEcuador and ProEcuador have trained students on several topics regarding business activities.

Father Javier Herran Gomez, UPS president, inaugurated the new office and spoke about how the university is pleased to open this office as part of its community involvement programs. "You (students) will become economists who will diagnose the reality of businesses, you will also have to be anthropologists and psychologists since you will have to socialize with people in order to advise them on their ventures".

Roman Carabajo, coordinator of area 6 of MIPRO, said this Ministry is willing to support the initiatives that emerge from universities because it is fundamental tht students get involved and develop entrrepreneurship projects or support the productive sector. He explained how MIPRO has worked with UPS professors to provide workshops for students so they can have a certain level of knowledge on how to strengthen productivity, how to start a business and how to market products in national and international markets.

Maria Fernanda Guevara, director of the business administration faculty, said the program seeks to strengthen the processes of community involvement by having students provide several services, consultancy by professors in the scientific-academic- business fields,  problem solving, meeting the needs of the sector, entrepreneurship and innovation. These type of programs create interaction between the university and businesses.

Wilson Quintuña, acting vice president of UPS's branch campus in Cuenca, congratulated the people in charge of the program and encouraged everyone to continue working on projects that benefit society. The ribbon cutting ceremony was carried out by UPS student Andres Zhunio, along with Javier Herran and professors Ana Julia Vega and Maria Fernanda Guevara.
