Father Javier Herran, former president of our university, was awarded the Community Development Insignia which recognizes Ecuadorian citizens for their notable work in society. The insignia was awarded by “Corporación Mucho Mejor Ecuador” during the event “Insignias of Ecuadorian Pride”.

Father Javier has had a long career as part of the Salesian community in Ecuador, he has worked tirelessly to serve the community in areas such as education, academia and society, especially in projects related to Andean communities, where his contribution was fundamental for the growth and appreciation of small towns in the northern part of Ecuador.

“Corporación Mucho Mejor Ecuador” is a private, non-profit entity that was created to generate identity and value in Ecuadorian production, encouraging and promoting: passion for what is ours; national pride and commitment.

This event was held in the city of Cuenca and was attended by businessmen and representatives of different Institutions, who met to acknowledge outstanding people who have contributed to social development.

Father Javier Herrán recalled the importance of joint work between industry and academia, which results in projects and different activities that become a fundamental piece of social transformation.
