Celebration for World Press Freedom Day

To celebrate World Press Freedom Day, our branch campus in Quito held an emotional event organized by the Communication major and the Communication Council to promote a talk about the importance of this issue in Ecuador. Representatives of media, professors and students attended the event.

 

 

Jeannine Cruz, president of the Council for the Development and Promotion of Information and Communication; and María Sol Villagómez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito present the agreement for inter-institutional cooperation. The agreement will allow training processes and work on community engagement projects so that UPS students can carry out their pre-professional internships in the Council. 

 

 

Roberto Sanchez, director of the communication undergraduate program in our branch campus in Quito, awards certificates to the first participants of the online course on “Freedom of Speech and Social responsibility”, organized by the communication council

 

 

Father Marcelo Coronel, director of the pastoral department in our branch campus in Quito; Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito: Roberto Sanchez, director of the communication undergraduate program in Quito; and Ricardo Rivas, president of the foundation “Nos Faltan 3”, presented a plaque to commemorate Javier Ortega, Paúl Rivas and Efraín Segarra, whose lives were taken while doing their job in March 2018.

 

 

Representatives from the Communiation Council, along with Maria Sol Villagomez and Ramiro Morejon, walk through one of the hallways which was filled with photographs of a march that took place after the death of the three journalists from “El Comercio” newspaper; the photographs were taken by students. 

 

 

The event ended with a tour of the labs and equipment used by students of the communication undergraduate program.
